Nice squatting man! Good volume too!
Nice squatting man! Good volume too!
Good stuff, man. Make sure you hit some ab work, too. Keep at it.
J-i do direct ab work at every mma and boxing class(so 2x a week) so i dont do any during my workouts.
Nice stuff man keep it up.
What program are you following again?
How to Find Your Dream Job
My personal blog/website dedicated to giving answers on the age old question - how to escape the "rat race". I now play guitar for a living!
Im doing block periodization now
The first phase, the one im in now, is called acummulation and its all about the volume.
Upper accumulation week 1/3(from friday)
bar x a lot
Band pull aparts x a lot
1 hour mma class-focus will most likely be on takedowns and a mix of basic boxing and grappling techniques
I will do my 2nd lower workout of the week tonight and will do boxing and mma cardio for a total of 2 hours tomorrow
Staying on top of everything bro.
Nice work man! Keep up the good work!
Looks real good, man. I really like those band dislocates for general shoulder health. I do them all the time. Keep working hard. How did it feel doing what I suggested with doing a couple sets at a lighter weight on your assistance work?

Cool, man. Really solid effort today. Do you find that you have more "lifting endurance" (for lack of a better term) on upper body days/movements than lower? I've found this with myself in the past.
yea, ive always had better muscular endurance(Correct term?) on upper body movements compared to lower body. I think its partially because im always on my feet playing football and other stuff i do through out the week and i just get worn down that way.
boxing/mma side note-mma class was what i expected.
J, you have been really getting me into boxing and ive actually really been thinking about possibly switching from mma training to strictly boxing. I really like the idea of all the striking. I like the ground/takedown work in mma but not as much as boxing. Ill probably stick with mma for a while just to see if i start to like the range of disciplines more than just focussing on one before i make the switch.

Very cool, man. Boxing is a great sport, and even though people think it's dead because of MMA, it's not. You just have to look harder to find the fights/do your homework a little more because the names aren't as popular due to MMA. Even though they aren't as well known, they are still good fighters. And there's no question that boxers are far superior strikers to MMA fighters. Many of them are sloppy and leave themselves open for so many counters. It's part of the reason there are so many quick knockouts in MMA. It's also partly due to the gloves they use.
That being said, I have nothing against MMA. Believe me, I know it takes talent and skill to do what they do. I just prefer boxing, obviously lol.
Well no deadlift session yesterday. I just felt exhausted yesterday and i wanted to see the ufc season finale. I cant believe Roy "big dummy" Nelson beat schuab. I think i was legitimately pissed at the outcome of the match. Congrats to kimbo for squeaking out a split decision win though. That was one of the most boring fights ive ever seen.
Dude I wanted Big Country to win the whole time. Hes so different from the average heavy weight. You can tell Dana White doesn't like him.
he is different but he is an arrogant slob.
1 hour boxing-focuss mit work, sparring, shadow boxing
1 hour cardio- wall walks, kick boxing/sprawl combos, dummy takedowns, med ball stuff, jump rope
i feel like total crap now. That was one of the hardest conditioning days ive ever done.
upper body stuff on tuesday and lower wednsday
Well, this blows, im getting sick again. ive been puking my guts out for the past 2 hours now. Just thought y'all should know that.
Sucks to hear that you are getting sick, I hope you feel better.
Upper accumulation week 2/3
-band pull aparts
-was gonna work up to 185x2 today sometime but im not feelin it today
shadow boxing for 3*3min rounds
agility stuff (shuffles, agility latter, cone drills, head slips, jump rope for pretty brief times)
Notes: i really skimped on assistance work today. I wasnt going to even work out cause im getting over a 24hour bug but i felt bad about missing my 2nd lower workout last week.
Im really praying for no school tomorrow. We were originally supposed to get 8" of snow but it all went north of us to wisconsin. Now we are supposed to get freezing rain for the next 18hours. I have finals this week and an extra day to study will help out big time.

Dude, awesome work for being sick. If I were that sick, I probably wouldn't have made it. Good stuff!
if anyone is interested, here is vid with rob pilger about the 5 biggest mistakes in boxing
he talks about
-ss cardio vs what ever the heck everything else is called
-myth: weightlifting makes you slow
-boxing starts from ground up(aka footwork is key)
-rotational ab strength
-and something else i didnt care about apparantly
That's a pretty good video, glad you posted it.
