    After having decided to compete again, I had to get in another squat/deadlift session. This was my first time in a suit since last year. The suit is not very tight, so it kinda felt like briefs. I cut down on some of the volume leading up to the top set for the day, due to having went all-out last weekend.

    This was my first RPS meet. The meet director was Gene Rychlak, and Gene and his wife ran the meet. They put on an incredible meet, with good judging, great equipment (warm-ups and platform), music throughout, some gear-for-sale (wraps etc.), and food available. The entire day ran smooth, and Ame was the only person behind the scorer's table! She was like a machine!

    This was also the first time I ever did a meet within two weeks of another meet. I just wasn't satisfied with two weeks ago, so wanted to get right back at it.

    For this meet, I lowered my squat opener to 440, to be safe. Turned out to be a very easy opener. The 485 second attempt felt even better. Both first and second attempts were sunk and pretty smooth/quick. I switched to thicker knee wraps for my final squat, which threw me off a little in the hole with balance on the descent. I was able to recover and just broke parallel then fought it up. The first two bench attempts felt awesome! The 385 second attempt was the smoothest I've ever done in a meet. I tried 400 again for a meet PR, but see-sawed on the way up, or would of had it.

    By the time deadlifts came around, I was running on empty. (The hotel pillows weren't cooperating with my neck, so I didn't get much sleep the night before and was starting to feel it during DL warmups.) I dropped my opener of 500 to 485. 485 felt tough on the first attempt! It was a mindless pull, as I was trying to conserve adreneline for the second and/or third attempts. I took 520 for a second attempt, which would give me a 1405 total and put me on the Top 50 list for Powerlifting Watch, which has been a big goal of mine these past two years. I got pretty amped up for the 520 and it felt a lot easier than the opener. Going into my final attempt, I decided to try 550, which would be a meet PR, and tie my all-time best pull, which was done last year on a Saturday morning, dedicated to just that. The 550 last year was not a perfect pull either. I was hoping to get a good song--they had the music on a random playlist--and was happy when a decent Metallica song came on when I was "on deck." :lol: I came up to the bar about as focused as I've ever been and set-up quickly. When I broke the floor, I felt strong, and blasted through where I stalled a few weeks ago with the 555. If I would have gotten the 400 bench, I would have had a 1450 total, which was one of my big goals from last year. But I am very happy with how the day went, and lifting in my first RPS meet was an awesome experience!

    Today was the first time I tried the Stub. A really cool piece of equipment! 25lbs. felt really easy, so I tried 3 10s (35lbs.) and got about an inch off the ground. Tried it again right after, but didn't budge. 30lbs. came up pretty fast.

    Got my new grippers (GHP 5/6) and they are pretty sweet! I was able to get the GHP5 for one solid rep. It felt a lot harder than both #2's I have.

    I tried my first Big Golden in a long time and it was a battle at the end! I got it down to 2 1/8" pretty quick and then had to hit it about 30 seconds for the last 1/4" I did. I unwrapped one side halfway, which really seemed to help on the crush. The GripTopz is pretty fun, but tears up your fingers pretty bad. The 35 went up a few inches.

    I tried my first 5/8" bar in awhile and it was tough, but went down relatively quick. Legs are a little bruised up from not being used to the crush. I think the grade 8 bolt (black) was a PR at 6.25" or close to it ... bent to 50 degrees. I was going to box squat after bending, but decided to wait a day after the braced attempt.

    Today was the first time I ever tried floor presses and I liked them a lot. I actually had a decent pump from them, which normally doesn't happen for me on presses. At first they were a little awkward, but the 275 felt stronger than the 250 set.
